This story is continued from Swamp Thing #96 and continues in Swamp Thing #98.

Synopsis:
Swamp Thing travels to the realms of the afterlife which are now overrun by aliens who died in the invasion of Earth. Each race has its own concept of the afterlife, and the realms have changed to accomodate various belief systems. Swamp Thing is joined by Bartle, an alien alligator; Kel Gand, a Daxamite; and the spirit of Abin Sur. Abin Sur leads Swamp Thing to the gates of Hell where Etrigan informs him that Tefe is inside, and she has demon blood.

Meanwhile in Hell, Beelzebub dispatches Nergal to trade with the Spider Guild for possession of Tefe.
