This story is continued from Detective Comics #602.
Synopsis:
Batman and Randu Singh track down the Mahakala who is trying to kill Rafe Kellogg. The criminal is in the custody of Lt. Kitch. When the Mahakala finds them he destroys the police car and chases his target onto a construction site. Batman is able to use a wrecking ball to knock out the monster.
Although it seems the threat is over, the Mahakala rises and renews its mission of vengeance. Sensing the danger to Randu, Jason Blood calls forth Etrigan. The Demon then comes to the aid of Batman and defeats the Mahakala once and for all. However, he then tries to strangle Batman before sensing something dark in the Batman's character which reminds him of himself. Etrigan then breaks off his attack and leaves.
