Comments:
Aquaman is elected King of Atlantis in this story. He then weds Mera.

Mera loses her powers in this story.

Green Arrow is depicted on the cover, but he is not depicted at Aquaman's wedding in the story. It should be assumed that he is present, though not explicity shown.

Synopsis:
The people of Atlantis inform Aquaman that he has been elected their new king, since their previous monarch, Juvor, has died. Aquaman accepts the position, then learns that he must choose an Atlantean woman to be his bride.

Before choosing his new queen, Aquaman goes on patrol and rescues Mera from Oceanus, a renegade from Mera's home dimension. Mera informs Aquaman that she has left her world permanently to be with him. Oceanus has also removed her powers. Aquaman tells her that he cannot marry her, but he doesn't have a chance to explain his reason. Broken-hearted, Mera runs away.

Oceanus finds Mera again and tells her that he intends to make her his queen. Still upset by Aquaman's actions, Mera reluctantly agrees to give Oceanus a chance. The renegade then proceeds to conquer Atlantis and install himself as king. Aquaman is thrown in prison.

As preparations are made for the wedding of Oceanus and Mera, Aquaman escapes. He attacks Oceanus, only to discover that he has been led into a trap. Oceanus plans to kill Aquaman, but Mera stops him. She admits her love for Aquaman. Oceanus is forced into exile, and Aquaman is reinstated as king. For her actions, Mera is awarded honorary citizenship status in Atlantis. Aquaman then proposes and marries her.
