Synopsis:
Superman leaves Earth to begin a self-imposed exile. Using a teleporter acquired from the Omega Men, he quickly travels across vast reaches of space. He finds an uninhabited world, nearly gets pulled into a sun, and rescues an alien space plane in an event eerily similar to his first public appearance in Metropolis. However, Superman does not want to become a hero to another race of people, so he leaves that world behind.

Back on Earth, Perry White receives the first installment of Clark Kent's series on Intergang. Perry believes Clark has gone into hiding and is sending the stories to him in the mail. When the story is published, Morgan Edge orders Kent assassinated. Meanwhile, Brainiac informs Lex Luthor that he can no longer sense Superman.

Elsewhere, Amanda McCoy is continuing her investigation of Clark Kent whom she believes is really Superman. Matthew Stockton, the investigator she hired, breaks into Clark's apartment. At the same time, Edge's Intergang assassins arrive. They mistake Stockton for Kent and kill him.
