The Janus Directive (Part 2)
This story is continued from Checkmate #15 and continues in Checkmate #16.
Synopsis:
Amanda Waller holds a meeting with the leaders of Checkmate, the Suicide Squad, and Project Peacemaker. She reveals information concerning a conspiracy in the intelligence community called the Janus Directive. She then orders a preemptive strike against rival organizations. She dispatches the Suicide Squad to attack the Force of July. Meanwhile Checkmate and Peacemaker are to go after the leaders of the Captain Atom project.
The Suicide Squad heads to the California estate of Abraham Lincoln Carlyle to attack the Force of July. Punch and Jewelee are given a secondary task of obtaining the Medusa Mask that once belonged to the Psycho Pirate. Although the mission does not go according to plan, the team achieves its goals. Carlyle is killed, and the member of the Force of July are defeated.
Elsewhere, Checkmate captures Heinrich Megala and believes that Peacemaker has killed Wade Eiling during the abduction.
