Synopsis:
The Idol-Head of Diabolu gives beachcomber Driftwood Dagan the ability to transform himself into strange creatures capable of uncovering hidden treasures. Dagan is captured by police after he steals a time scroll from the base of a skyscraper. However, his transformation powers allow him to escape.

The Martian Manhunter tracks Dagan through the city. J'onn deduces that the Idol-Head must have intended for Dagan to uncover a witch doctor's evil tomahawk. J'onn fashions a phony tomahawk for Dagan to uncover. When the beachcomber recovers the talisman, the spell is broken and his memory is erased.
