Synopsis:
Chemist Henry King grew up poor and was sent to reform school. He continues to blame his problems on lack of wealth, so he invents a means to transform ordinary objects into gold. King makes a fortune, then seeks to take revenge on those people who have wronged him in the past.

The radiations from his experiments have given King a golden touch which he uses on his former boss Everett Kelsey. The Star-Spangled Kid and Stripesy see the gold statue and begin investigating. King, now calling himself King Midas, hires thugs to kill the Kid and his partner. They escape and continue to pursue King.

When King's golden touch turns the two people he loves into gold accidentally, his mind completely snaps. The Star-Spangled Kid is eventually able to turn the golden touch against King. King is turned into a golden statue and dies in a fire.
