Synopsis:
Following America's successful War of Independence, Tomahawk, a war hero, has become a drunken tax collector near Gotham. His partner, former Ranger, Stovepipe, has been replaced by his old enemy Lord Shilling. Shilling is in the employ of the English necromancer Admiral Jason Blood. They want to acquire a piece of amber, soon to come into Tomahawk's possession.

The amber is delivered to Tomahawk by the indian Wise Owl and his sister Moon Fawn. When Shilling tries to take it Swamp Thing manifests and carries them both in a cave full of bats located beneath the newly constructed manor of Darius Wayne. In the bat cave, Shilling grabs the amber which withers his hand and forearm. His forearm then breaks off with his dead fist still clutching the amber.

Tomahawk takes the talisman with him as he joins the indian siblings on a trek back to their village. There he finds Swamp Thing trapped in a block of amber. The presence of the talisman causes Swamp Thing to be released back into the time stream. Tomahawk then marries the indian girl Moon Fawn. Together they have a child Hawk who will encounter Swamp Thing 70 years later.
