Synopsis:
Henry Yarrow brings Captain Atom a lead to obtaining evidence that can clear the name of Nathaniel Adam. However, the evidence is locked in the safe at Zyco Corp. which is run by Lester Bryant, one of the judges responsible for convicting Adam.
To get to the evidence, Captain Atom approaches Blue Beetle. The company of Ted Kord, Blue Beetle's civilian identity, has been purchased by Zyco. So, Ted goes undercover to spy on Bryant. To get Beetle's cooperation, Captain Atom creates a fictitious story that he was a former associate of Ted's mentor Dan Garrett.
When Ted's cover is blown, Bryant sends a hitman to kill him. Captain Atom stops the hitman, then works with Blue Beetle to apprehend a gang of drug runners who are supplied by Zyco. For his failure's, Bryant is killed by his unidentified boss. The evidence that can exonerate Adam is also destroyed. Captain Atom and Blue Beetle depart as friends, but Atom knows that his lie could one day be revealed.
