Comments:
The origin of Nuklon is revealed in this story.

Synopsis:
Nuklon takes a flight to Virginia to meet Fury and her parents. During the flight he reflects on his own past. As a boy, Albert was a small but scrappy child. His godfather, Al Pratt, allowed Albert to spend a summer with him. Pratt reveals that he is the Atom. He then introduces Albert to the children of the JSA: Hector Hall, Lyta Trevor, and Rick Tyler.

The four children become friends. Both Hector and Albert develop crushes on Lyta. During the summer, Albert receives training from Al. He also grows at an incredible rate. Doctor Mid-Nite believes the growth is the result of radiation absorbed by Albert's grandfather, aka Cyclotron, during World War II.

Albert's height makes him an ideal basketball player. However, he begins to lose interest in the sport and inspired Lyta's father to learn mechanics. Albert eventually tells his godfather that he doesn't want to play basketball and becomes a hero instead.
