Synopsis:
Salakk has returned to 1988 from the future after he has discovered that the Central Power Battery no longer exists in 5716. Oa in that time period is a wasteland. He has also learned that Sinestro's execution was responsible for the destruction of the Battery.
As predicted, the Central Power Battery begins to fail. The intermittent loss of power causes Driq to finally die when his ring can no longer prevent his demise. It also allows the prisoners to escape from their cells. The Green Lantern are able to trap the escaped prisoners in the museum which stores many ancient artifacts collects over the millennia by the Guardians.
The telepathic members of the Corps then attempt to learn the reason for the Battery's failure. They learn that after the Zamarons split from the Guardians and left Oa, then went to Korugar where they mated with the males of that world. Eventually they would leave Korugar. The Guardians feared that their own jealousy may cause them to punish Korugarans unfairly, so they set in motion a failsafe that would prevent them or their agents from doing anything more than imprisoning a man of Korugar. By executing Sinestro, the Corps unknowningly triggered the failsafe within the Central Power Battery. The failing Battery will eventually destroy everything on the planet Oa as foreseen by Salakk in the future.
