This story is continued from Warlord #67.

Synopsis:
While Jennifer Morgan continues a search for a cure to Rostov's curse, Mikola tells Mariah how his affliction first presented itself while they were in Russia. As a result of his condition, he pushed her away. Later, he then came to Skartaris in search of her.

Eventually Jennifer is ready to try again. This time she separates the wolf from Rostov. It manifests as a shadow wolf which in under Mikola's control. Cured at last, he tries to fight Machiste for Mariah's love. Mariah steps in for Machiste instead and bests her former instructor in a fight. When Mikola gets angry the wolf attacks Mariah and has to be pulled away. Mikola leaves in shame.
