Synopsis:
While wrapping up a case in Gotham City, Batman is attacked by Robin. After a moment Robin regains his senses, then Commissioner Gordon tries to kill Batman. The Caped Crusaders eludes the danger, then deduces that Deadman must be behind the attacks. He runs onto the street where one at a time, men attack him.

Batman eventually reaches a rooftop where only he and a man feeding pigeons remain. Deadman possesses the body of the man whom Batman confronts. Although Deadman appears to be trying to kill Batman, the Caped Crusader points out that if he really wanted to murder him he could simply possess his body and walk him off the roof. Confused, Deadman flees.

Deadman's behavior was caused by a drug. While leaving Nanda Parbat he was shot by Willie Smith aith a poison dart while still partially corporeal. Deadman was left in a highly suggestable state. Willie convinced him Batman was his enemy.

Without knowing the reason for Deadman's attack, Batman pays a visit to the circus where Deadman's twin Cleveland has taken over his aerialist act. Deadman possesses the body of his brother and is then informed by Vashnu that he must return to Nanda Parbat.

Batman and Deadman, still inside the body of his brother, go to the hidden land together. Upon entering Deadman is forced out of his brother's body and begins dying from the poison still inside his body. Batman and Cleveland Brand then confront Willie Smith, the Sensei, and their assassins. Batman retrieves the antidote that saves Deadman's existance. The Sensei begins plotting his revenge while escaping.
