Synopsis:
Near the island port of Serendeeb, the Karama which carries Arak and his companions encounters a flying green girl with butterfly wings. The girl is injured and the king's men demand her return. Arak carries the girl into the city, while Alsind begins to fall in love with her. When they reach the city, the girl has recovered enough to escape. She takes Alsind with her into the jungle.
The king demands that Arak and his friends bring the girl back or a quantity of gems equal to the king's weight. They are guided into the jungle by the General, the leader of the king's guard. During the night he is dragged off and killed by a giant worm.
Arak and his friends locate the girl and Alsind. The Quontaukan realizes that the girl and the worm creatures are one and the same. He pulls Alsind away from the girl and sets the worm on fire to kill it.
