Synopsis:
Valda takes Pip into a chapel for shelter and finds a mysterious black stone in his hand. While Valda talks to the chapel's priest, Pip encounters a phantom that appears to be his grandfather. Valda fights the spirit and soon learns that it is under the control of Baron Ovis. She destroys it, but Ovis's men grab Pip and hold him hostage. Valda takes Ovis herself which causes a standoff. The balance is broken when the king and his men arrive. Ovis tries more wizardry, but he only succeeds in causing his own demise. Pip and then king make amends for their earlier fight and Ovis's followers are rounded up.
