Comments:
Luthor's name is misspelled "Luther" once in this story. He is also mistakenly depicted with white hair in one panel.
Synopsis:
Luthor has invented a new metal dubbed Luthorite which is stronger than any known substance. To create more Luthorite, he needs rare minerals found inside a recently crashed meteorite. Using a digging machine with a tip made from Luthorite, Luthor digs his way to the meteorite to retrieve the minerals.
Superman is also investigating the meteorite and arrives at the same time as Luthor. Luthor uses a distraction in order to escape with the minerals necessary to build his digging machine entirely out of Luthorite.
When Luthor later tries to steal valuable irridium, Superman is there to stop him. The Man of Steel chases Luthor through the center of the Earth, where the Luthorite protects the scientist from the deadly heat. When the digging machine emerges on the other side of the world, Superman catches up to it and destroys it. He then apprehends Luthor.
