Synopsis:
Lois Lane is celebrated for 1000 days as a volunteer nurse. Superman takes her to a newly discovered asteroid which he names in her honor. She then returns to the hospital to administer a radiation treatment to a patient. Later, Lois discovers that she is radioactive and believes she has radium poisoning.
Believing that she only has a short time to live, Lois begins taking dangerous risks. She attempts to get a story about a hermit and faces a deadly snake. Fortunately the snake runs from her. Next she takes on an airplane hijacker. However, the bomb he intends to use suddenly stops.
Superman then takes Lois to his Fortress. They are attacked by a Kryptonian beast which has escaped from Superman's interplanetary zoo. They are saved by Tra-Gob, a Phantom Zone criminal who owed a debt to Jor-El. By saving Superman, he has repaid the debt. He then returns to the Phantom Zone.
Superman then explains that Lois was exposed to radiation on the asteroid. The radiation drove away the snake, stopped the bomb, and created a temporary breach in the Phantom Zone. Fortunately the radioactive effect wears off, and Lois is not doomed to die.
