While in Paris, Bruce Wayne meets a man, Charles Maire, whose face has been removed by the villain, Duc D’Orterre. The Duc has become enchanted by Charles’ sister, Karel. Charles attempted to interfere and was tortured by the nefarious Duc.

Batman agrees to help the siblings and enters the sewers where Charles was taken. He is captured by the Duc and places on a spinning wheel. The Caped Crusader frees himself, but becomes lost in the Duc’s garden.

D’Orterre captures Charles and his sister again, places the faceless man on the wheel. Batman rescues him after escaping the garden and follows the Duc who has escaped with Karel in a car. Batman enters the car from above in his Batplane and struggles with D’Orterre. Karel is freed, Batman escapes the car, and D’Orterre perishes when the automobile is driven off a cliff.
