Synopsis:
Bruce Wayne reads about a mysterious death in the newspaper and believes that Doctor Death may still be alive. Claiming to be a reporter, Bruce visits the dead man’s widow and learns about some family jewels.

He returns later that night as Batman to guard the jewels and runs into Doctor Death’s henchman, Mikhail. Batman allows the man to escape with the jewels, following him to a fence and later to his apartment. Batman searches the apartment after leaving Mikhail unconscious, but the thug awakens. After a brief battle, Batman breaks Mikhail’s neck.

The Caped Crusader returns to the fence to get the jewels back, finding that the dealer is really Doctor Death in disguise. Although badly burned in the fire, Death escaped through a trapdoor. This time though, he cannot escape and Batman brings him to the police.
