Synopsis:
Following a volcanic eruption, a super-powered man appears claiming to be Phantom Zone exile, Dak-El. The man requests that Superboy return him to the Phantom Zone to finish his sentence. The Boy of Steel leaves to retrieve the projector, while Dak-El, really a disguised Lex Luthor, contacts the real Phantom Zone criminals. Lex plans to help the exiles escape from the Zone using a unique jewel that focuses the mental energies of the Zone prisoners.

When Superboy returns with the projector, he sends Lex into the Zone. Lex then starts his plan and escapes using the gem. The other escapes are foiled when Superboy is waiting for Lex, having deduced the scheme. Lex is taken into police custody, and Superboy destroys the gem.
