Synopsis:
A criminal known as the Wrecker derails a train in order to rob it. Superman helps victims of the crash, then reports the story as Clark Kent. After the story appears, Kent is assigned to mentor Bill Tate, the publisher's nephew. Tate shadows Kent when the Wrecker strikes again by blowing up a dam. Clark is forced to ditch Tate in order to go into action as Superman. He catches two members of the gang.

The Wrecker seeks to keep Superman out of his business. The crook recognizes that Kent is on the scene when Superman shows up, so he believes they are connected. He also learns that Kent is mentoring Tate. The Wrecker kidnaps Tate intending to use him against Superman. However, Tate uses newspaper lingo to clue in Clark about the Wrecker's next job. Superman stops it, rescues Tate, and finally capture the Wrecker.
