Synopsis:
Wanted mobster Benny the Brute agrees to turn himself over to the reporters of the Daily Planet. He does so at the same time Professor Bates has brought his newly invented time machine to the newspaper. Benny forces the professor to send everyone back in time, rather than turn himself in.

When Benny, the Professor, Clark, Lois, and Perry arrive in the past, they meet a clan of cavemen. Benny steals a vital component of the time machine trapping them in the past. He then tries to set himself up as ruler of the cavemen.

Clark changes to Superman and pretends to have followed the group through time. He attempts to get Benny to return them to their own time, but fails. Finally, as Clark he convinces Benny that he has found a gold mine. Benny agrees to return everyone to the present so he can claim the gold. Upon their return, Benny discovers the gold to be fool’s gold and is sent to prison.
