Comments:
Superboy encounters Red Kryptonite for the first time in this story. The effects of which are not consistent with its later usage.

Synopsis:
Superboy finds a strange glowing red rock that he learns is Red Kryptonite. Using a special oracle machine to learn where the rock came from, Superboy is astonished by what he learns. He sends his robots out to help perform his duties, while he hovers over a spot in Smallville.

The town gathers around him wondering why he is there, but Superboy will not tell them. After hovering for a day they try to pull him down, but are unable to move him. That night something materializes from the 4th dimension. Superboy’s presence causes the object to explode.

The object was the beginning of an invasion. The Kryptonite was desgined to be used against Superboy, but instead it alerted him to the invasion. By hovering at the portal Superboy prevented the invasion from coming through.
