Synopsis:
Batman and Commissioner Gordon discuss the patterns of a serial killer who leaves his victims in dumpsters. Based on the pattern, the killer should have struck again, but no body has been found. Later while on patrol, Batman protects a homeless man, Elmore, from two street crooks. Elmore claims to have a new wife. He leads Batman to his shelter where the Dark Knight discovers the latest murder victim whom Elmore took from a dumpster.
Based on a description provided by Elmore, Batman tracks down the van used to drop off the body. However, the owners were in jail at the time of the murder. Batman then checks the police impound yard where Victor Giambattista was on duty the nights of the murders. Before Batman can question the police officer, he is found dead.
Batman traces a clue left in the dead man's blood to Vito Procaccini, Victor's cousin. Batman breaks into Vito's house looking for evidence. He questions Vito. Before he can get any information, Vito's partner Karl Branneck enters and threatens to call the police on Batman. Without evidence, Batman is forced to leave. Branneck then tells Vito that Batman must be eliminated.
