Ten Nights of the Beast Part 2 of 4.

This story is continued from Batman #417 and continues in Batman #419.

Synopsis:
Batman, the Gotham Police Department, FBI, and CIA are all working to protect potential targets from a Soviet assassin, the KGBeast. The Beast kills Silvia Burrows using poison before the police can place her under protective custody. The police then stake out a fundraising event where Ben Wilder is scheduled to speak. Despite their efforts, the Beast and his assistant poison everyone in the room.

Batman has his first face-to-face meeting with the Beast. However, he is forced to stop pursuit to save a bus load of children. He then stakes out the hotel room of Senator Dayle. The KGBeast fires a rocket into the room, but the senator was only a dummy. Batman and the Beast fight again, but the Beast proves to be a formidable opponent and escapes.
