Synopsis:
Superman assists the Metropolis S.C.U. with a murder investigation in which the victim was apparently killed by voodoo magic. After Superman is unable to locate any new evidence, he returns to the Daily Planet building to resume his role as Clark Kent. Clark attends a meeting with Sarge Steel in which he learns about the alien invasion of Australia. Steel passes along a message from Washington asking Superman to stand down.

The next day, Thanagarians attack Metropolis. Superman comes to the aid of the city. He fends off the attack, but is felled when hit simultaneously by a Thanagarian weapon and a voodoo spell inflicted by the murderer Baron Sunday. He crashes through the pavement and disappears underground. A short time later, Captain Atom goes into the sewers to find him only to find the Guardian.

Meanwhile, the new Gangbuster is combing the underworld for leads on the voodoo killer. His search finally leads to Baron Sunday. He fends off a mystical attack, then captures the murderer.
