Synopsis:
A strange hold-up in Silver City draws the attention of the Elongated Man. The thief stole money from his victim, then tore it up in from of him. Ralph begins his investigation at the police station where café owner Antoine Lemaire is describing another similar robbery.

As more victims come forward, Ralph stages a sting. He and Sue spend the day spending money openly around town. That evening a crook attempts to rob Ralph. However, instead of tearing up the cash, he keeps it. Ralph apprehends the crook and his accomplice, but is no closer to finding the thief who hates money.

When Ralph confers with Sue, he learns that each of the robbery victims has experienced increased business the following day. Ralph deduces that the robberies were a hoax. The original robbery report was made by a disc jockey to promote a new song. The other victims decided to cash in on the idea by claiming they were robbed in order to generate publicity for their business.
