Synopsis:
Two ancient warlords of the planet Marrakon are accidentally awakened by Thanagarian archaeologists, and use Thanagar as the battleground for their renewed fighting. Hawkman and Hawkgirl, checking to see why they couldn't contact their planet, return to it, pick up the archaeologists on Marrakon, and learn their story. Upon arrival, they discover their planet is under the warlords' psycho-magnetic control, and so are their passengers, but for some reason Hawkman and Hawkgirl are not.
Though invulnerable to the mind-control, they find it impossible to overcome the immortal warlords, until they deduce that Earth's solar radiation gives them their immunity, and so they find their Earth weapons to be effective. However, both warlords threaten to kill every Thanagarian under their control unless Katar and Shayera become their champions.
Their Earth weapons are now ineffective, so Hawkman and Hawkgirl must separately expose the warlords to radiated dust from Marrakon, which had been the cause of their hibernation, and seal them in airtight tombs.
Thanagar honors Katar and Shayera as heroes before they return to Earth.
