Dr. Fate’s origin is revealed in this story.
Synopsis:
Young Kent Nelson was exploring a pyramid with his archaeologist father, Sven, when he stumbled across a man in suspended animation. Kent revived the man, known as Nabu, but a poison gas was released killing his father. Nabu trained young Kent in ancient magic to make up for the loss of his father. When Kent was ready, Nabu provided garments for the boy, now man, to become Dr. Fate, Master of the Supernatural.
Years later while attending a dinner party with Inza. Kent meets a man haunted by shadows. As Dr. Fate, Kent chases away the shadow creature and threatens its master, Negal. The shadow ruler accedes victory to Fate and promises to avoid the world of men.
