Synopsis:
On the planey Yquem, a group of Green Lantern’s hold a trial for Hal Jordan. The group chairmaned by Tomar-Re relates the events of misconduct that have led up to Hal’s trial. First Hal was seen breaking into a bank, but at the last minute he flew off before taking anything. Next, at a charity event Hal roughs up the doorman and won’t pay for admission. Finally Hal ignores the plight of a man falling from a building. He does rescue him at the last minute though.

The tribunal decides to let Hal off with a warning and chooses not to strip him of his ring and battery. Hal objects to their verdict and demands to be punished. The Green Lantern’s decide to honor Hal’s request, so they take his ring and banish him to Qward.

Upon his arrival, Hal is captured by Sinestro. Sinestro explains that he broke free using his spare power ring that was concealed in his boot. He has been using a mind control device to force Hal to act strangely. Now that Hal has been declared a renegade, Sinestro offers Hal a partnership. Hal refuses the offer and tries to jump Sinestro.

Before Sinestro can overcome Hal, the rest of the Green Lantern’s arrive. They suspected a trap and have followed Hal. They confront Sinestro, but Sinestro took provisions, and they only succeed in capturing his energy duplicate. The real Sinestro then imprisons the GL’s in a yellow dome which he begins filling with deadly chlorine gas.

The Green Lantern’s combine the gas with the water from their breath to create a corrosive acid that eats through the dome and frees them. They finish off Sinestro and imprison him on a distant world using his own mind control device against him.
