This story is continued from Batman:The Cult #1 and continues in Batman:The Cult #3.
Synopsis:
Batman has joined the cult of Deacon Blackfire after being broken mentally using a combination of drugs and psychological manipulation. He joins the Deacon's followers on a raid against a Gotham City mafia leader. When the raid is over, he returns with the others to the sewers until the homeless man named Ratface takes Batman to carry out a personal vendetta.
When Ratface is caught by the police, Batman wanders away and begins to regain his senses. The police question Ratface and learn about Blackfire's plot which now includes killing the mayor and city council.
Batman, still suffering from the psychological torture, returns to the sewers where he discovers that Blackfire's opulent chambers. However, he is caught and can't fight back in his weakened state. The cultists lead him away, but he falls into the sewer pipeline and is carried away. Robin who has infiltrated the sewer convertly, dives into the water to follow. He finds the Batman atop a pile of bodies in a mind-rattled state.
