Synopsis:
In the Ferris hangar, Hal Jordan decides he wants to perform some tests on his power ring. He enlists the help of his friend, Pieface. The two men travel to an empty area in the country and begin their tests.

In the first test, Green Lantern tries to command his ring from a distance. He reaches his limit at about one hundred yards. Next he tries commanding the ring from within a cave. The ring still works about fifty feet in, but soon GL reaches his limit. Before he can head back outside to get the ring, a landslide caused by a nearby vagabond traps Pieface and Hal in the cave. The vagabond, Bill Baggett, discovers the ring and takes it. He learns it’s amazing powers and heads off to settle some old accounts using the ring.

When Green Lantern and Pieface recover and escape the cave, they find the ring missing. The ring reports it’s whereabouts to Hal, thanks to a previously issued order to send him a progress report. Hal learned that Baggett has taken revenge against a railroad worker and is now menacing Coast City.

Green Lantern rushes to the city and attempts to stop Baggett, but without the ring he is beaten easily. He tries again, this time hidden behind a yellow sign. While Baggett manuvers around the shield, Green Lantern gets close enough to mentally take control of the ring from a distance. His superior experience help him overcome Baggett and take the ring back. He repairs the damage caused by Baggett and then reviews the results of his tests with Pieface.
