Synopsis:
The lost Ruby of Life comes into the possession of archaeologist Richard Sargent while he is on a dig in Mexico. He gives the ruby to his wife. When her son John is born, he sees and touches the ruby, completing a piece of an ancient ritual. When John becomes an adult, he discovers the writings of an ancient civilization which mention the ruby. He then recites an incantation which completes a ritual which gives him great power.

John Sargent does not believe in the power at first, but when he pretends to demonstrate for his mother he discovers that he really does possess the power to command inanimate objects. He decides to disguise his power by becoming a stage magician, Sargon the Sorcerer.

After two years building his career as a magician, Sargon witnesses racketeers threatening a theatre manager. Sargon comes to the man's aid and stops the crooks. He then convinces the manager that his power was merely an illusion.
