Synopsis:
Mike Rappaport hosts a children's television show on KBEL dressed as a clown. He has a nervous breakdown on the air, speaking inappropriate words and exposing himself. While Rappaport receives psychiatric care, three fundamentalists decide to take action. They attack a clown named Bobo, who is in town as part of a traveling circus. They do not realize that this clown is not Rappaport until they have killed him.

Word of the attack reaches Vic Sage who investigates the circus as the Question. Rappaport is released and also heads for the circus to seek employment. The attackers strike again, killing one of the circus performers in the process. The Question protects Mike, and apprehends the crooks.

Vic also realizes that the men were inspired to action by the hate speech of Royal Dinsmore, a candidate for mayor.
