Synopsis:
Metron observes two giants drifting in space near the Source. He detects a Mother Box and investigates. The Mother Box belonged to one of the giants and is huge. Metron uses his Mobius Chair to shrink the Mother Box to normal size. However, the energy used depletes the X-element which powers the chair. Metron is then stranded in space.

The Mother Box detects a presence in the void and draws the Swamp Thing to Metron's location. Swamp Thing takes the form of a chair and with the help of the Mother Box takes Metron into the Source. Metron and Swamp Thing each have powerful visions as they become one with the universe. Swamp Thing is driven mad.

Metron eventually finds his way to Darkseid. He relates his story only to learn that he did not enter the Source, it was an Aleph. Metron had hoped to bargain for a supply of the X-element, but is left with nothing to trade. However, Darkseid is curious about Swamp Thing. He learns that his love for Abby Cable was all that kept him sane. Darkseid gives Metron the X-element he needs, and Mother Box removes Swamp Thing's memories of the experience, restoring his sanity.
