Synopsis:
Lois and Clark visit the western town of Saddle Fork looking for a story for the Daily Planet. They learn that Catawampus Jones has discovered the Lost Squaw Mine and is transporting a gold shipment. Jones is robbed by the Rockdust Bandits, but Clark goes into action to halt the robbery and catch one of the crooks. The townspeople then elect him sheriff.

Clark goes after the bandits and gets the drop on them. However, he must surrender when Lois and his boy deputy Roaring Pete are used as hostages. Clark is then put into a cave which he causes to collapse. As Superman he escapes in order to rescue Lois and Pete.

The crooks disguise one of their men as Clark. Acting as the sheriff, the crooks plan another robbery. Superman stops them. He exposes the phony Clark then catches Catawampus Jones who is really the gang boss. Jones pretended to find the lost mine to explain the stolen gold. Superman finds the real mine and gives ownership to the townspeople.
