Professor Walter Whiffensniff believes that Superman is a hoax dreamed up by the Daily Planet. He announces his claims and gets the story published in a rival newspaper. Whiffensniff also tries to gather proof that there is no Superman.
Finally Whiffensniff stages a trap for himself. He believes it will prove Superman doesn't exist because only the Man of Steel could save him. While setting up the trap, Whiffensniff sees Superman stop a bank robbery. With the new evidence, he is proven wrong. Unfortunately, the trap is still set to kill him. Superman finishes off the robbers, then rescues the professor, proving once and for all that there is a Superman.
