Metropolis is threatened by a criminal mastermind known as the Thinker. Though Superman is able to stop one of the crook's robberies, the Thinker is prepared for the Man of Steel and escapes. Superman concocts a plan to capture the crook by pretending to take a vacation. The overconfident crime genius is then thwarted by the meek Clark Kent. When the Thinker tries to kill Kent, his plan backfires. Clark apprehends him, then explains that Superman used the power of suggestion to temporarily give him courage. He then convinces Lois Lane that the confidence has worn off, so his dual identity remains a secret.
