Comments:
This story is a sequel to the Powerstone story seen in the first story of Action Comics #47.

The events of this story occur concurrently with All-Star Squadron #20 where they are recapped.

Superman encounters the Ultra-Humanite, who steals the Powerstone, immediately after this story as told in All-Star Squadron #21.

Synopsis:
Luthor is sentenced to the electric chair for execution. However instead of killing him, the electrical energy restores Luthor’s artificial super powers. He still can not best the Man of Steel, but he tricks Superman into delivering the Powerstone.

With the Powerstone in his possession Luthor robs Superman of his powers and becomes a terrible menace. However, even without powers, the Man of Steel stands against his foe. Using trickery, Superman separates Luthor from the Powerstone, removing Luthor’s power and restoring his own. He is then able to defeat the villain.
