Synopsis:
Nestro, head of the Guardians of the Universe, suggests that Captain Comet play in an interplanetary chess tournament on Pluto. While squaring off against a competitor from Venus, Captain Comet and the other players are knocked out by Pygr-Gar, the Plutonian chess champion. Pygr-Gar then attempts to use the captured players to power his robot slaves.

Captain Comet escapes, but he and Pygr-Gar find themselves in a stalemate. The Plutonian suggests they settle the score in a game of chess. When it becomes obvious that Captain Comet will prevail, Pygr-Gar tries to kill his opponent. Captain Comet dodges the attack and defeat the Plutonian for good.
