Synopsis:
A series of strange disasters plague the Earth. Captain Comet recalls that these exact events were predicted by Wilbur Walker in a book that was dismissed by the scientific community. Comet visits Wilbur in Wyoming and meets his daughter Lydia. She explains that her father believes the Earth is a living being and the recent atomic tests have irritated it.
Captain Comet then follows Wilbur into a hole in the Earth. Under the surface, Captain Comet discovers a giant brain creature that has been causing the disasters. Wilbur's theory was mostly correct. It was not the Earth that was alive, but rather the giant brain. Captain Comet destroys the brain, and the disasters come to an end. Walker's theories are then elevated in standing by other scientists.
