Synopsis:
A trio of lifelike statues are found near a volcanic geyser in Wyoming. Captain Comet investigates and learns that the men are not statues, but petrified men. Using his amazing abilities, he is able to pick up their thoughts. After doing so he returns to Professor Zackro's lab in Midwest City.

Captain Comet discovers that the Earth is being pulled from its orbit around the sun. The planet soon leaves the solar system and approached Alpha Centauri. When it does, the stone men revive. Captain Comet questions them and learns that a race of these men live inside the Earth.

Captain Comet drills through the Earth's crust and discovers an underground city. He meets Onslan, the leader of the stone men who revealed that they are from Alpha Centauri. The stone men did not know there was life on the surface and used a gravity selector to take them home. Once the stone men leave Earth, Captain Comet reverses the gravity selector and returns Earth to its standard orbit around the sun.
