Part II:"The Fickle Finger of Fame"

Synopsis:
Clark Kent awakens one morning and discovers that he is suddenly a celebrated hero. He is forced to dodge a mob of fans. When he becomes Superman, he learns that the public has turned against him. The Superman Museum is vandalized, and a charity event is cancelled. He also realizes that a week has passed without him realizing it.

Superman eventually regains the memory of the lost week. Aliens came to Earth and staged a mock invasion. Using hypnosis, they were able to build up Clark into a hero that thwarted the invasion and make Superman look like a coward.

Superman tracks the aliens back to their world. He discovers that they are all three-foot duplicates of Clark Kent. The aliens explain that a cosmic cloud transformed their race into shapeless amoeba creatures. They were able to build a machine that could mold them back into humanoid form using Clark Kent as the master mold. Afterwards, many of them wanted Clark to be a hero, so they staged the invasion to build up Clark. Superman helps them train the Gornns, their former pets, then leaves them in peace.
