Comments:
This story is continued from the second story of Doom Patrol #109.

The origin of the Doom Patrol is retold in brief in this story.

This story was originally (in Doom Patrol #109) scheduled to appear under the title "Neg Man's Last Stand".

This story is entirely a flashback to events following Negative Man's origin and culminating in the origin of the Doom Patrol.

The story is subtitled "The Private World of Negative Man", which series concludes with this episode.

Negative Man's boots are miscolored white on the cover of this issue.

This issue features a text page titled "How to 'Figure' a Super-Hero", a shorty essay by reader Rick Wood on the parallels between mathematics and super-hero comics writing.

Synopsis:
Negative Man becomes a pawn in Dr. Death's scheme to seize control of the U.S. government by driving its leaders to madness and suicide. With the surreptitious aid of the Chief, he smashes the plot, then meets his future Doom Patrol teammates for the first time.
