Synopsis:
On his way to dinner with Carol Ferris, Hal Jordan stops at a florist to pick up a corsage for Carol. Outside the shop he witnesses several children pretending to be Green Lantern with what appears to be a fake ring. When he arrives at dinner he finds his power ring has slipped out of a hole in his pocket. He asks Pieface to cover for him while he goes to search for it.

At a nearby quarry, Billy Taylor, one of the boys from in front of the store, plays with the ring he has found. He quickly discovers it to be the real power ring. He falls into a pit while playing and does not have the will power to escape.

Hal backtracks to the florist where he runs into Billy’s playmates. They explain that they have left Billy at the quarry. When Hal arrives, he spots two burglers. He attempts to apprehend them without the ring and is nearly overcome. Billy sends the ring upwards from the pit, and Hal gets it just in time to defeat the criminals.

Hal then rescues Billy and rewards him with a toy duplicate ring. Hal decides he will now wear his ring at all times but keep it invisible. He then returns to his dinner engagement where Pieface has covered for him. Carol however is still enamored with his alter ego, Green Lantern.
