Synopsis:
A rare Shang statue from the Chinese city of Yin and a Celtic cup mysteriously appear in the Midway City Museum, so Hawkman and Hawkgirl travel to the relics' sources, he to China and she to Ireland, to investigate.
Hawkman battles Mongolian looters of the Yin ruins, but after he chases them away he finds the living but comatose figure of a girl in stage magician's garb, babbling in a tongue he does not know. Meanwhile, Hawkgirl has similarly run off thieves in Ireland and found another figure of the same girl. They take both to their spaceship, where they discover that each body is speaking half words of English which, when combined, explain that she is Zatanna, daughter of Zatara (the famous magician of the 1940s), and that she has been magically split in two. They bring the halves together and the recombined woman tells them that she had simultaneously sought her long-missing father in Yin and the Hill of Tara, Ireland by splitting in two, but that this had weakened her mobility.
She was barely able to magically send the relics to Midway City Museum, knowing that Hawkman and Hawkgirl would respond, although she refuses to admit she knows their secret identities. Hawkman makes an Absorbascon scan of Earth for Zatara but finds nothing, yet encourages Zatanna to continue her search.
