Synopsis:
Superman rescues a space caspule that lands in the ocean. Upon meeting the inhabitants, two merpeople, Superman exiles himself beneath the ocean. The world is worried by Superman’s absence and sends a team to bring him back. Superman evades the team and constructs an underwater Fortress of Solitude.
The merpeople, Vul-Kor and Lya-La, have constructed a machine that will melt the polar ice caps and flood the planet. Superman agrees to help them, but Vul-Kor grows weak. Superman throws the switch which will melt the ice caps. Vul-Kor realizes that Earth’s oceans are poisonous to his people, and he and Lya-La leave Earth. Superman stops the ray from melting the ice. He planned it this way, as his Fortress concealed salt which oversaturated the waters, making Vul-Kor leave.
