Comments:
This story was originally planned for Superman #168, but was shelved when President Kennedy was shot. At the urging of President Johnson, the story was published to promote the physical fitness program championed by the late president.

This story takes place chronologically after the first story of Action Comics #309 in which President Kennedy learns Superman's secret identity and Kennedy's death in November, 1963.

Synopsis:
Superman rescues a group of exchange students trapped by an avalanche. The students are in poor physical condition, prompting President Kennedy to ask Superman to help with the national physical fitness program. Superman then travels around the country promoting fitness to American youth.

Perry White forces the staff of the Daily Planet to join the fitness program. Clark must pretend to be out of shape to keep up his secret identity. While hiking, the staff gets trapped, but Clark rescues them. The others think his newfound strength is derived from the fitness program, instead of his super powers.
