Synopsis:
Lois and Lana convince Professor Potter to construct a love detector that will prove which girl Superman loves more. When he uses the device, it appears to fail. Lois gets it working, but to her chagrin, it indicates Superman loves Lana.

Lois agrees to leave Metropolis and quits the Planet. When Superman learns about the device, he checks and discovers that it was set to work only on women. Lois tampered with the device in order to lose. Superman brings Lois back to Metropolis where she explains that she left to protect the Planet. Her sister won a contest sponsored by the newspaper, and her employment would make the contest appear fixed. Lois then returns to work, and Lucy gives up her prize.
