Synopsis:
3000 years ago in ancient Egypt a magician named Ahton uses a magic shield to glimpse the future. He learns about Superboy and develops a formula to give his own weakling son Seth super powers. The pharaoh's daughter, Neferti, fall in love with Seth now that he has powers. In an attempt to gain Seth's attention, Neferti enlists the aid of Ahton's rival. The other magician gives her a magic scarab. However, the scarab is cursed and results in the doom of both Seth and Neferti. They are mummified and sealed together in a tomb. Ahton learns that Superboy will face a similar fate in the future, but he is unable to complete his warning.

Lana Lang and Clark Kent uncover the tomb on an archaeological dig conducted by Lana's father. Clark translates the unfinished warning which states that he should destroy Lana to protect himself. He disregards the warning. Lana finds the scarab among the artifacts in the tomb. She begins wearing it as a pin. When Superboy approaches he nearly has a heart attack. The magic scarab is similar in composition to Kryptonite. The Boy of Steel eventually learns that the incomplete inscription advised to destroy Lana's scarab, not Lana herself. Once the scarab is destroyed, Superboy regains his health.
